Filming Diary Day 2

During this second day of filming, we were able to shoot the sequences between drug cartel mule Vincent and Toby. Owing to cast members being unavailable at extremely short notice, I was drafted in to act as Vincent in addition to my responsibilities as director. Prior to taking my space in the acting frame in front of the camera rather than behind it however, I colluded with Zach as to how the shots would be presented and more importantly which ones we wanted to capture and at what angle! Whilst I was acting in the trailer, Zach remained behind the camera to ensure that the camera remained steady and focussed.
One of the most valuable lessons I feel that has been learnt from today's filming is the necessity to confirm an actor's availability further in advance of our filming schedule than previously presumed because, as today's near lack of progress indicated, it becomes extremely problematic to advance through the schedule in the absence of an actor, and consequently a planned shoot can result in a lack of ground being covered within our schedule. Despite the setbacks that we endured today on our shoot, I was once again impressed with our ability to quickly adapt to developing, potentially problematic, situations. As a result of this, good attainable progress was able to be made today and I am extremely pleased with how our filming has progressed and how our trailer is shaping up.
